Is there any way I can make rolled fondant without gelatin or marshmallows for a Harry Potter themed cake? I need to know how to make fondant without using gelatin or marshmallows because I cannot eat gelatin. I can't use the commercial fondant at grocery store because it includes gelatin. The reason I need the rolled fondant is because I want to make a Harry Potter themed cake, but I want it to come out really good, so I want to use fondant for the decorations. If you have any suggestions on how to make the fondant and what design I should do please help me. Thanks!

Wilton's fondant is vegetarian. Instead of the gelatin they use gum tracaganth, a vegetable gum. So even though it doesn't taste good, you can use it for your decorations.

You could also use Nicholas Lodge's gum paste recipe, assuming that you don't have any objections to cooking with eggs, and assuming that you can find some tylose powder. Gum paste definitely dries too hard to eat, but it has a nice stiff texture that makes it easier to model figures with.
